Encouragement!

We serve a great big God! God is all knowing and uses His people on one side of the world to be used clear across on the other side....amazing!

While J was in Africa we were having some issues come our way. One day it was becoming a large issue and major prayer was happening and I was asking God what His plan was.

This very day I was sitting out on the deck watching my kiddos and the phone rang. It was a wonderful lady from our church that I really do not know that well but what I do know, I highly respect. I have seen her be nothing but loving and love Jesus so sweetly, rooted firmly in the Word.

She quickly said I have a verse the Lord has impressed upon my heart for you today. Isaiah 54:17 (New International Version)
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,"declares the LORD.

She went onto say she was impressed to repeat NO tongue that accuses will prevail! Then she said "OK Bye!" I stood there in shock - how did she know? We had not said a word to any of our church family yet. Well, she did not know, God did! God used an obedient child of His to help direct comfort and strengthen His other children.

This word from the Lord has taken on so many meanings, as usually a word from the Lord does, so multi faceted. In that moment I thought it applied to the current happening in Africa but even still I find myself meditating and taking comfort in it - Thank you Jesus for giving us just what we need in EVERY situation, Your word is my daily bread, the lamp unto my feet.

  1. When we were in Africa, I had reached my breaking point. I was so distraught and felt just....helpless. All of the sudden, there was a knock on our door. The wife of the guest house owner was standing there, telling us that she felt that God had told her to come and pray with us. She was SUCH a blessing, I can't describe it to you. I truly believe that God sent her to us to comfort us. He is SO good.

  5. I just found your blog and am so excited to follow along!

I was one of the blessed ones to be able to also go on the same trip that your husband went on! He cracked us up all the time. Seriously...he is so funny. Tell him Lexie says "hi!!!!!".

I was reading through your last couple of post and came across the one about how God gave y'all the name for your sweet one in Africa. I remember very clearly riding to the Sanyu on the very first day and talking to your husband...Me and Emma (DW's daughter) were both asking him all sorts of questions "are you nervous? excited? oh my goodness we're so excited for you!" ...i am sure we were annoying him like crazy. But he was nice enough to tell us the story about the name that God had given you for the sweet boy. When we were getting out of the taxi at Sanyu Emma immediately whispered to me "LEXIE! you won't believe it! there is a little boy at the orphanage named ______"! We were so excited to see if maybe that little boy was y'alls! And it was! I loved watching your husband and son interact together. He is so meant for your family...they just looked like father in son!

One day when your husband was not able to go to the Sanyu...the rest of the group went and when I walked up to the gate there was your sweet boy standing asking where "dada" was! SOO SWWEET. I then held him for a while and we went into the shop that they had at Sanyu and was telling me what all of the animals were!! SO SWEET. He is a very very sweet little boy (and SO SMART!!) and I can't wait to see him in his Mamas arms!!!

Ok, wow...do you think this comment was long enough??!!

Anyways...can't wait to follow along on the rest of y'alls journey!!!

    Lexie
