City Lights

J and I were invited to a wedding in the city and it was beautiful! My awesome friend Teresa offered to take all my kiddos for the night - how nice is that? I really could not find a reason not to take her up on it - my kids love her home, she take very good care of my treasures and I am thankful. Thank you Teresa! So off to the city we went......

Happy Thankful Thursday!
1.) I am so thankful for God answering prayer. We had been praying about J going on a mission trip - as time passed we just kept praying that God's will would be done in this situation. We were content either way. But this week plans are in the works and it looks like he will be going to Uganda in May! Now the praying really begins! We are so excited!! Much, much more to come on this.........
2.) I am so thankful that God is always working behind the scene.
3.) I am ALWAYS thankful for His word.
4.) I am thankful that our dog "Bear" seems to be feeling better - I bet next time he will think twice before eating 5 eggs out of the unattended egg basket!
5.) I am so thankful for my family, an awesome hubby and a Great Big God that measures the waters of our earth in the hollow of his hand - now that is BIG!

Great post on compassion for those who adopt!

I just loved this video!

Awesome Blog!

I love this blog! She is not only an inspiration but challenges me in her writing. I love her latest post and I too agree with what she said -

"Who will teach them (the orphan) that they are loved and valued and cherished?Oh, yea. The body of Christ. Each person who calls themselves a follower of Christ takes up the responsibility to love and care for the fatherless. It is not some special, specific calling. It is the duty of all who call themselves Christians."

This is not of her own thinking, this is biblical. In many places God calls us to care for the fatherless, widowed, orphaned, poor and weak. This is not a special calling, we are all called to care. If adoption is not an option for you there are ways to care for these. Are you a Christian? Then this is not a question of how you "feel" about it.

Thankful Thursday!! God is good all the time, all the time God is good!

I would love to have something earth shattering to write - I am sure there will be those in the future but most of my gratitude is for the dailies and I am so thankful for MY dailies.

We are in a very busy season, honestly, it is quite embarrassing how many thing we are involved in right now. We had the most quite and calm winter and boom, now we are doing everything offered- oops. So any prayers that you could pray for us would be great. My #1 is that with all the schedules and chaos I would not forget a kid!

1.) I am so thankful for my husband. He is truly a great guy. I had no idea what a blessing I was receiving when I married him. Which baffles me because I was not exactly serving the Lord when we met but Hey I'll take this blessing and Praise God for it!

2.) My kids. With all the fun, sports and activities they fall asleep in like 2 seconds - too cute.

3.) I am thankful for my vehicle. This apparently is going to be our new dinner table and I am so thankful that it is nice enough that I enjoy it, yet used enough that I can handle McDonald's-apple dipper-camel spilling in the back seat.

4.) For all of our little critters - now that the sun is starting to shine I might start to remember why we feed them all so much.

I am so thankful! Thank you Jesus, for I know all good gifts come from you! Amen

Deuteronomy 32:2-4

2 Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.

3 I will proclaim the name of the LORD.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!

4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he.

Lord, thank you for your renewing, life giving, freedom granting, soothing word to this child. - Amen

2.) The Word of God - my moral compass in a corrupt world.

3.) My church family and my pastor that has been speaking some major truth!

4.) Firemen - see lower post!

5.) People who have gone before us to answer a call.

6.) Paul Washer, Joyce Meyer, John Piper, John MacArthur, Corrie Ten Boom, James MacDonald, Dwight Sanders, Chip Ingram - just to name a few. I am thankful for their bold preaching and online downloads.

7.) Wrestling! My hubby use to wrestle in college and had desired to get our boys on the mat since they were born - well the time has come and they all are glowing by the end of the session at the Y (or is that sweat?). J you are an amazing husband and daddy - thank you for being the spiritual leader in our home, coach, fixer of all things, provider.........I seriously could go on and on! Thank you Jesus for J - You have blessed me indeed.

OK I know I got a little sappy but this is MY blog right?

Today

We had an eventful Sunday afternoon. It is that time of year to burn fields. Well, our neighbors lit a corner of their property. In a matter of minutes the wind kicked up and the fire was headed our way, towards our home. It quickly melted their beautiful white vinyl fencing and the intensified. Our neighbors called 911 and J and I ran out to get the horses (they were in the field that was burning). I gathered all the kids and woke poor sicky Lily up from her nap and we went and stood out by the road and waited. In a matter of minutes we had 4 major fire engines battling the blaze (plus trucks and jeeps full of firefighters). It was under control quickly and I am so grateful.

After we all came inside and I started to download the pictures I had a heavy sense that I did not even realize all that God had just done to protect us in that moment! I praise Him! I will remember and I will thank Him for His hand of protection!
We do not believe this to be a coincidence. Today, J and his awesome men's group spoke at church, telling all that God was doing in their lives and encouraging other men to seek God and surround themselves with other encouraging, godly men. Today, there was a lady at church that spoke a confirming word into J's life (more on that someday). Today, my sis spoke, out loud a confirming word to my other sis, about us (she had no idea J was speaking or about the fire) - this was something that was stirring in her spirit for a while but today she spoke it. Today there was this fire - that could have been devastating! But TODAY there was a fire training going on 4 miles away! The Cavalry was here within minutes because today God knew! God is worthy to be trusted, God is worthy to be praised!
The enemy of our souls hates the steps of faith we are taking and will attack us. But we serve a great BIG God that will never leave us and never forsake us. He will prepare us if we allow Him to and if we seek Him with all our hearts and souls.

I can not help but think of my bloggy friend A Place Called Simplicity - their home burnt down about a month ago. I do not know why our home was saved and theirs was not but what I do know is God is carrying them through - He will never leave us nor forsake us! What comfort to know that tho we may be attacked He will carry us through - Praise Him!

This is our pastor - he is also a firefighter and was called onto our fire. We are so blessed with an amazing church family. This is Pastor John giving the kids a firetruck lesson - who need a trip to the fire station when you have one in your front yard?

Happy Birthday My Sister!

I have so much to blog about - things that have happened, vacations, fun, etc! But one thing keeps ringing today and I just cannot let the day pass with out wishing my sis a Happy Birthday!! Happy Birthday Esh!! We love you and I thank God for you and All your beautiful boys!

For all you Mama's out there I thought I would share her big day details, as only a mama can understand the humor. Birthday girl woke up to 2 sick (or was it 3) boys and a sick hubby. Followed up with a prompt visit to the Dr's for a strep test then off to clean the van where her 3 year old locked the keys in the car which made for a $50 visit with the locksmith..........Happy Birthday Mommy Style!

Happy Birthday Sis - I love you!!
