Today

We had an eventful Sunday afternoon. It is that time of year to burn fields. Well, our neighbors lit a corner of their property. In a matter of minutes the wind kicked up and the fire was headed our way, towards our home. It quickly melted their beautiful white vinyl fencing and the intensified. Our neighbors called 911 and J and I ran out to get the horses (they were in the field that was burning). I gathered all the kids and woke poor sicky Lily up from her nap and we went and stood out by the road and waited. In a matter of minutes we had 4 major fire engines battling the blaze (plus trucks and jeeps full of firefighters). It was under control quickly and I am so grateful.

After we all came inside and I started to download the pictures I had a heavy sense that I did not even realize all that God had just done to protect us in that moment! I praise Him! I will remember and I will thank Him for His hand of protection!
We do not believe this to be a coincidence. Today, J and his awesome men's group spoke at church, telling all that God was doing in their lives and encouraging other men to seek God and surround themselves with other encouraging, godly men. Today, there was a lady at church that spoke a confirming word into J's life (more on that someday). Today, my sis spoke, out loud a confirming word to my other sis, about us (she had no idea J was speaking or about the fire) - this was something that was stirring in her spirit for a while but today she spoke it. Today there was this fire - that could have been devastating! But TODAY there was a fire training going on 4 miles away! The Cavalry was here within minutes because today God knew! God is worthy to be trusted, God is worthy to be praised!
The enemy of our souls hates the steps of faith we are taking and will attack us. But we serve a great BIG God that will never leave us and never forsake us. He will prepare us if we allow Him to and if we seek Him with all our hearts and souls.

I can not help but think of my bloggy friend A Place Called Simplicity - their home burnt down about a month ago. I do not know why our home was saved and theirs was not but what I do know is God is carrying them through - He will never leave us nor forsake us! What comfort to know that tho we may be attacked He will carry us through - Praise Him!

This is our pastor - he is also a firefighter and was called onto our fire. We are so blessed with an amazing church family. This is Pastor John giving the kids a firetruck lesson - who need a trip to the fire station when you have one in your front yard?

  1. Wow! And TODAY I was praying for all of you and the guys in Justin's group, knowing they would be speaking and challenging other men. I saw the email first, so already sent you a note. I, too, thought of Linn's fire, and about the fact that God chose to take one house and leave the other, and that He is sovereign, and it all fits in His purposes, even if we don't understand them. But I am so glad that your home and your place are safe! Thank you, Lord, for having the fire training in Grenada on THIS day! Thank you for keeping everyone safe! The kids will have some exciting show-and-tell material! Sorry Lily is feeling icky! It's late, I'll call you tomorrow!
