I was sitting here listening to a couple of songs that have come to mean a great deal to me. In fact this summer Brandon Heath's song "Give Me Your Eyes" became a prayer of mine - well be careful what you pray for God just might give it to you!
Look down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touch down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared
Chorus
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, He's buying time
Chorus
I’ve been here a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
I need a second glance
Give me a second chance
To see the way you’ve seen the people all along
Chorus
The other song that I could/can relate with is Sanctus Real - "Whatever You're Doing"
It’s time for healing, time to move on,
it’s time to fix what’s been broken too long
Time to make right what has been wrong;
it’s time to find my way to where I belong
Chorus:
There’s a wave that’s crashing over me, and all I can do is surrender
Whatever You’re doing inside of me
It feels like chaos, but somehow there’s peace
And it’s hard to surrender to what I can’t see, but I’m giving in to something heavenly
Time for a milestone, time to begin again, re-evaluate who I really am
Am I doing everything to follow Your will or just climbing aimlessly over these hills?
So show me what it is You want from me
I give everything – I surrender
Chorus:
Time to face up, clean this old house
Time to breathe in and let everything out that I’ve wanted to say for so many years
Time to release all my held back tears
Whatever You’re doing inside of me
It feels like chaos, but I believe …
You’re up to something bigger than me
Larger than life, something heavenly
Whatever You’re doing inside of me
It feels like chaos, but now I can see
This is something bigger than me
Larger than life
Something heavenly, something heavenly
Time to face up, clean this old house
Time to breathe in and let everything out
When I sit back and reflect upon God's amazing forgiveness, mercy, grace, and all that is good I am humbled. What an amazing God we serve!

Found you through A Place Called Simplicity...and see you're in the process of adopting from Uganda. We are too, however, I've been asked not to blog about it til kiddos are home safe. :o(
ReplyDeleteI think this song is programmed to begin each morning when my alarm goes off. During this time, as we complete our paperwork for our homestudy, those words resonate inside my heart continually. Thanks for sharing. :o)
p.s. I see you have Pearls of Africa, aka Pilgrimage, on your blogs you follow list. :o) M's my fren. :o)
